Warning on threats

Police said yesterday they would not tolerate intimidation of four former Christchurch civic creche workers facing sex abuse charges.

Detective Inspector Brian Pearce said "positive action" would be taken against anyone responsible for threatening, assaulting, or intimidating the former creche workers who have been committed to the High Court for trial.

The comments came after a 21-year-old man, Graham Roderick Clark, was arrested on Monday night for allegedly threatening to kill one of the defendants, Peter Hugh Ellis.

Clark was remanded in custody to March 16 when he appeared in the District Court yesterday.

Police said that if allowed bail, Clark was likely to contact Ellis and cause more trouble.
