Convicted molester criticises lawyers
Convicted child molester Peter
Ellis has had complaints that lawyers made him "lose the plot" in
his trial published in a New Zealand Law Society newsletter.
Published in this month's law society conference newsletter, Ellis' satirical
piece, headed Blonde Horses and Horse Hair Wigs, described the overwhelming
effect on him of "horse hair wigs and black gowns".
The occasion engendered his "first dark thoughts about lawyers," he
said.
He indicated his case might have suffered because of his lack of legal
knowledge, something he was trying to overcome while in jail.
"However quite frankly I don't think it was my job then and I don't
think it should be my job now."
