In brief: Inquiry still planned
NZPA
Christchurch: Meeting the parents of children allegedly abused by
convicted paedophile Peter Ellis has not changed Justice Minister Phil Goff's
plans to hold an inquiry into the case.
A spokesman for Mr Goff said the minister, who asked his officials to look
into the possibility of an inquiry on the day of Ellis' release last month,
met parents of creche victims yesterday in Christchurch.
"It was a private meeting, obviously, because there is a privacy issue
for them. It was really just to hear from them," the spokesman said.
The meeting had not changed Mr Goff's position on an inquiry.
