FRESH CHARGE UNLIKELY
Police
investigating a new sex complaint against convicted paedophile Peter Ellis have
apparently received advice that the possibility of laying fresh charges is
unlikely. A 20-year-old Christchurch man had approached police claiming he was
sexually abused by Ellis when he was a young boy at Christchurch Civic
Childcare Centre. The man made a formal complaint in January. He wasn't party
to the original inquiries in 1992-93 which resulted in Ellis being sentenced to
10 years jail for his conviction on 13 charges of abusing children in his care.
It's understood police have obtained
an opinion from the Crown Law Office. - NZPA
