FRESH CHARGE UNLIKELY

Police investigating a new sex complaint against convicted paedophile Peter Ellis have apparently received advice that the possibility of laying fresh charges is unlikely. A 20-year-old Christchurch man had approached police claiming he was sexually abused by Ellis when he was a young boy at Christchurch Civic Childcare Centre. The man made a formal complaint in January. He wasn't party to the original inquiries in 1992-93 which resulted in Ellis being sentenced to 10 years jail for his conviction on 13 charges of abusing children in his care.
