A City Possessed
Letter to the Editor
by N Gillespie, Bishopale, Jan 30
Sir - Karen Zelas, (January 23) is critical of The Press' golfing headlines.
If the writer is Dr Karen Zelas, child psychiatrist, it would be of more
interest to see her respond to the review you published (November 3, 2001) of
Lynley Hood's book "A City Possessed", the reviewer being Cynthia
Hawes, Senior Lecturer in Law, Canterbury University.
It would be better still if she would comment on this meticulously researched
book, described as being of the highest academic standard with the
interpretation clearly supported by the evidence, especially as Dr Zelas and
her influence feature predominately with mention in the references some 47
times.

In a Few Words
by Karen Zelas
Although not a follower of golfing, I was most
saddened to see Michael Campbell's efforts and achievement diminished by the
headline "Putter stutter a real gutter for Campbell" (January 14).
For budding editors, does the course in alliteration come before or after the
course in punning? Humour at whose cost?
