Goff sitting on report about Bain murders

Justice Minister Phil Goff is sitting on a report by a former High Court
judge who scrutinised the case against convicted killer David Bain and found
nothing to support doubts of Bain's guilt.

This report is the second by Sir Thomas on a controversial case that has been
leaked after not being issued by Mr Goff.
Last March, a report by Sir Thomas on the Christchurch Civic Creche case was
leaked days after publication of former chief justice Sir Thomas Eichelbaum's
report on the same case.
The latter said childcare worker Peter Ellis had failed to prove "by a
distinct margin" that he was innocent of child sexual abuse, but Sir
Thomas Thorp said there was "serious doubt" about the safety of
Ellis's convictions.
