The shortlist of contenders for the country's most
prestigious book prize, the Montana Book Awards, is be announced at lunchtime
today at a function at Mantell's in Auckland.
The credibility of the long-running competition will be under attack if it
doesn't recognise Lynley Hood's meticulously researched A City Possessed: The Christchurch Civic Creche Case - but our
pick is Ms Hood's masterwork will be in the running for the major non-fiction
prize, the Montana Medal for Non Fiction.
But will Justice Minister Phil Goff finally find the time to read it?
The full shortlist will be posted on The National Business Review website
from 1pm (www.nbr.co.nz).
