Minister awaits information

Justice Minister waits to receive information which may spark reopening of Peter Ellis case

The Justice Minister is waiting to receive information which may spark the reopening of the Peter Ellis case.

Supporters of the convicted child molester claim they are on the verge of releasing details which prove the jury did not hear all the information in the 1993 trial.

Ellis served six-and-a-half years for the offences, which he vehemently denies.

Justice Minister Phil Goff says he will suggest any new information be tested in the courts.

He says any evidence not already considered by the justice system that is pertinent to Ellis' guilt or innocence will be referred to the Court of Appeal.

New info on Peter Ellis case

Peter Ellis supporters believe they are on the verge of a breakthrough- claim they have new information

Supporters of convicted child molester Peter Ellis believe they are on the verge of a breakthrough.

Ellis served six-and-a-half years for the offences, which he has always denied.

NBR Publisher Barry Colman says he has new information which may prove the jury did not hear all the evidence in the case.

He says the reasons why the information wasn't provided may provide the evidence Justice Minister Phil Goff needs to instigate a Royal Commission of Inquiry.

Evidence to be published

Campaigner against conviction of Peter Ellis will publish evidence from children which was never put to jury

A campaigner against the conviction of Peter Ellis for child abuse is to publish transcripts of evidence from children that was never put to the jury.

Publisher Barry Colman says the transcripts have come to light as a result of the publicity surrounding his $100,000 reward for new evidence in the affair.

Mr Colman will print the testimony of the children in newspapers on August 3rd.

Barry Colman says the jury only ever saw selected parts of the children's allegations.

He says these transcripts will show how biased the evidence was.

Mr Colman says there has been no claim for the reward.
