Nothing new in adverts
Justice
Minister Phil Goff sees nothing new from testimonies published in Sunday paper
in Peter Ellis creche case
The Justice Minister sees nothing new in testimonies from the Peter Ellis case that
have appeared in newspaper ads.
Businessman Barry Colman has paid for the ads, saying the material was left out
of the trial because it didn't suit the prosecution case.
He wants Phil Goff to order a Royal Commission of Inquiry.
But Mr Goff says he's had the testimonies checked today by the Crown law
department.
He says they were either heard by the jury or referenced by defence counsel in
cross-examination.
Phil Goff says a few inconsistencies doesn't mean
everything in the children's testimonies should be dismissed.

Creche transcripts published
Ellis case transcripts published in Sunday paper- 2-page ad shows what video
evidence jury not allowed to see
Child, Youth and Family have failed in their bid to stop the publication of
transcripts taken from child victims in the Christchurch Civic Creche case.
Businessman Barry Colman has taken out the two-page ad in the Sunday Star-Times
today, as part of his campaign to clear the name of Peter Ellis.
Ellis spent seven years of a ten-year sentence in prison after being convicted
on 16 charges of abusing seven children in 1993.
The interview transcripts published today show what video evidence the jury
were and were not allowed to see.
