Suiting themselves
Letter to the Editor
by Ian Hood, Blenheim
After reading "The toddler testimonies", it is clear why this
evidence was barred. The jury would have laughed the case out of court.
That would not have suited some people - that includes the parents and
interviewers who believed every word the little dears said.
It includes the police who need a "result" to justify their
salaries and know an easy target when they see one. It includes the lawyers,
ever eager to defend the arrogant system from which they all get a nice
living. And it includes the judge, who
disallowed evidence which might have helped the defence.
