Your letters editor
(August 27) wrote that "Tighe Instone warned the chorus of Peter Ellis
supporters that they did not have all the strong arguments". Ms Instone's
prominently placed letter (August 25) based its arguments on the views
expressed in one of only two negative - out of dozens of overwhelmingly
positive - reviews of Lynley Hood's A
City Possessed, the other negative being that of Val Sim, legal adviser
to Phil Goff. Instone's letter
supposes that the views of E. Davies and J. Masson, as cited by her, are
generally valid. Dr Felicity
Goodyear-Smith wrote an authoritative reply to Davies and Masson in the New
Zealand Law Journal (October 2003). Thus, a simple internet
search "in response to Emma Davies and Jeffrey Masson" will enable
your readers to judge for themselves the strength of the claims that Instone
relies upon. |
