Alleged killer in court

Alleged child murderer George Evans
Gwaze raised his fists in the air, clapped his hands, and waved to his wife during
a brief court appearance in Christchurch yesterday.
Gwaze, 54, appeared in the District
Court charged with sexually violating and murdering his niece, 10-year-old
Charlene Makaza, in January.
Gwaze was remanded in custody while
police inquiries continue.
No date was set for a depositions
hearing.
Judge John Bisphan
remanded Gwaze to reappear on March 29 for a further pre- depositions
conference.
