Five days set for Makaza murder deps

Five days has been set aside for a depositions hearing for a Christchurch man accused of murdering his 10-year-old niece.

George Gwaze is charged with the murder and sexual violation of Zimbabwean girl Charlene Makaza in January. Police say she was suffocated and subjected to an horrific assault.

In the Christchurch District Court, Gwaza's lawyer Jonathan Eaton requested five days to be set aside for a depositions hearing on July 16. The 54-year-old was remanded in custody
