Jury selected in Makaza murder trial

The jury has been selected in Christchurch for the High Court trial of a man accused of murdering his 10-year-old niece.

Fifty five-year-old George Gwaze also faces two charges of unlawful sexual connection in relation to the death of Charlene Makaza in January 2007.

The jury comprised of seven men and five women was this morning given instruction by Justice Chisholm.

The Crown is planning to call more than 60 witnesses as it outlines its case in the trial, which is expected to run for three weeks.
