Makaza murder trial begins today

The trial of the man accused of murdering 11-year-old Charlene Makaza starts today in Christchurch.

She died in hospital in January last year after being found in her bed struggling to breathe. A month later, her uncle, George Gwaze, was charged with her murder and sexual violation.

The 54-year-old's trial is expected to take three weeks
