The jury in the
trial of George Evans Gwaze was sent away for the day today, while the High
Court heard legal argument.
Justice Lester
Chisholm said the court had "heard submissions on an issue that has
arisen" in the murder and sexual violation trial that has now been going
almost three weeks.
Gwaze, a
54-year-old Zimbabwean, denies the charges which relate to the death of his
niece, Charlene Makaza, who lived as part of his household in Christchurch in
January last year.
The trial will
resume tomorrow morning.
