Christchurch murder trials

Closing addresses have been underway today in two Christchurch murder trials.

Lipine Sila faces two counts of murder and eight of causing grievous bodily harm after driving his car through a crowd of party goers. George Gwaze faces one count of murder and two of unlawful sexual violation in relation to the death of his niece Charlene Makaza. In both cases, both defence and prosecution lawyers took more than two hours each in closing their cases.

Tomorrow morning, the respective judges will sum up before the juries retire to consider their verdicts.
