Appeal in Gwaze case considered

The Solicitor General is considering whether or not to appeal the acquittal of George Gwaze.

The 56-year-old was acquitted of the murder and sexual violation of his 10 year old niece Charlene Makaza, last week.

It is understood Crown prosecutor Chris Lange wants to appeal that verdict, in what is being described as a rare legal move.

Lange says whether there will be an appeal or not remains with The Crown Law Office.

The Solicitor General's office is currently examining the case.

Talk of an appeal has caught Gwaze by surprise.

Gwaze says he was not aware of the possible appeal and was surprised by it. However he remains confident of a positive outcome
