Man guilty on sex charges

A former Auckland camp leader and St John ambulance officer has been found guilty of sex crimes against boys.

Neville Cyril Collins, a 44-year-old father of two, was last night found guilty of 37 charges of sexual offending and assault against six boys in the 1980s and 1990s.

Collins had acknowledged knowing the boys but denied the incidents, which happened at Boys' Brigade camps and other locations, including cars, and houses where Collins lived.

The verdict came at the end of an eight-day trial at the High Court at Rotorua. He is due to be sentenced on September 27.
