Complainant says she was in no fit state

A woman who alleges she was raped by a former sports star has told the Auckland District Court she was in no fit state to consent to sex.

Tea Ropati, who played for the Kiwi league team, is facing six charges in connection with the incident in June 2006.

The complainant, who met Mr Ropati at a bar in Ponsonby, has admitted drinking the equivalent of six bottles of wine and snorting cocaine prior to the incident.

She says any honorable man would have recognised she was not able to consent to any sexual activity.

But the defence has suggested she was not as drunk as she says.
