	Otago Daily Times February 8 2008 Verdict in Ropati case Letter to the Editor by Inga Nielson, Pine Hill The verdict in the Ropati rape case sends a clear message: if a woman is so heavily intoxicated by alcohol and/or drugs that she is oblivious to what is going on around her, she is fair game for anyone to exploit without consequences for the perpetrator (ODT, 1.2.08). Or is it a case of a rugby league star getting off the hook more easily than other mortals? No wonder some women are reluctant to take rape cases to court. At least the police seem to have got the right end of the stick now.
