Complainant charged

A woman who claimed she was assaulted and robbed in her Dunedin home earlier this year has been charged with making a false complaint.

In June, the woman (20), who was seven months' pregnant at the time, told police three masked men had burst into her Charters St, Glenross, home.

She claimed she was punched and dragged by her hair around the house. She alleged the attackers then made off with cash and a small amount of jewellery.

Police carried out initial inquiries but had little information to go on.

Detective Lachie Cameron confirmed yesterday that, as a result of an on-going investigation, the woman had been charged with theft and making a false complaint.

She will appear in the Dunedin District Court later this month.
