The Police Minister has
confirmed two investigations are underway into the death of an Auckland man
who was allegedly assaulted by an off-duty police officer. New Zealand First
leader Winston Peters claims sickle-cell anaemia sufferer Michael Famodun was
assaulted by the officer in an Auckland car park in November last year. He says the 33-year-old
died three months later as result, with the death certificate reading Mr
Famodun suffered a massive intercranial haemorrhage such as occurs from a
blow to the head. Minister George Hawkins
confirmed a Police Complaints Authority investigation is underway along with
a separate police investigation. |
