Sex charges admitted

A former Salvation Army captain has pleaded guilty to four indecent assault charges at a trial at the High Court in Timaru. John Francis Gainsford, 69, of Auckland is facing sex charges dating back to the 1970s, when he was manager of the Bramwell Booth Salvation Army Children's Home in Temuka. He denied another 23 charges, ranging from indecent assault to rape.
