Cadets treated in "proper military manner"

A former All Black and army sergeant major is surprised by the allegations of abuse at the Waiouru Cadet School.

The Defence Minister is launching an investigation into the claims of sexual abuse and violence.

Stan "Tiny" Hill, who worked at the school in the 1960s as a regimental sergeant major, says it was well run and cadets were treated in a proper military manner.

He says he cannot understand why the abuse allegations are coming out now, so many years later, however he suspects money might be behind it.

Mr Hill was an All Black in the from 1955 to 1959.
