Waiouru abuse inquiry on hold

The ministerial inquiry into allegations of abuse at the Waiouru Regular Force Cadet School has been delayed.

Defence Minister Mark Burton says it has been put on hold because the retired judge who is leading the inquiry is sick.

He says the Honourable David Morris has a serious heart condition and is recovering at home.

Justice Morris was due to make his report to Mr Burton by the end of this month.

The reporting time has been extended to August.

The inquiry was sparked by allegations of physical, psychological and sexual abuse at the school dating back to the 1960s.
