Aeroplanes and Irrational Fears
peterellis.org.nz reiterates need for Commission of Inquiry.
Media Release

The recent publicity about Air New Zealand's policy of banning unaccompanied children from sitting next to men is yet another example of the irrational fears that have pervaded our society for the last couple of decades, PeterEllis.org.nz spokesperson Brian Robinson says.

That the Children's Commissioner Cindy Kiro endorses such nonsense is extremely disturbing: She should resign, and be replaced with someone who understands the importance of men in the lives of children.

The consequences of sex abuse hysteria are damaging our society.  Children are growing up with less contact with men. The teaching professions are losing male teachers because of what teachers have referred to as the "Peter Ellis syndrome".  The consequences for innocent men are devastating.

Peter Ellis stands as a symbol of the hysteria. Few now question his innocence, but he has not yet been pardoned and generously compensated.

PeterEllis.org.nz continues to call for a Commission of Inquiry into the details of the Ellis case, but also more general concerns about sex abuse allegations.  Only then will New Zealand be able to move on from the existing irrationality associated with and harm caused by a moral panic.
