The Dominion Post Is the airlines' policy to ban men
from sitting next to unaccompanied children on flights an example of PC gone
wrong (Nov 30)? What implications does this have
for interaction between males and children in society? What sort of
encouragement is there for males to become teachers, childcare workers or
join any occupation that has anything to do with children? Should we then go on to ban males
from working in aircraft cabins as well? I think Air New Zealand and Qantas
have got this horribly wrong. The implication that all men are guilty of
conducting wrongdoing without justification is discrimination in its worst
form. If parents are so worried about
sending their children unaccompanied on flights, maybe they need to look at
the reason why they are sending them unaccompanied in the first place. |
