Police Assoc will keep close eye on allegations of pack rape by senior police officers- Complaints Authority to investigate

The Police Association says it will be keeping a close eye on allegations that three senior officers pack raped a teenager.

Today's Dominion Post newspaper has published allegations of a 1986 rape in Rotorua, later incidents of sexual assault, and a police cover-up.

The Association's Greg O'Connor says he's waiting to see what else emerges in the media over the next few days.

Mr O'Connor says things could get tough for kiwi officers if the public lose confidence in the force.

The Police Minister is confident the truth will win out over the allegations.

The alleged victim Louise Nicholas says an officer manipulated her into dropping her complaint.

Minister George Hawkins says the Police Complaints Authority will be looking into the matter .

Investigation into police pack rape claim

Minister calls for more information on alleged pack rape of teen by police in Rotorua in 1986; PCA to investigate

The police minister is calling for more information on shock allegations that senior officers were involved in the pack rape of a teenager.

The accusations relate to an incident in Rotorua in 1986 and include claims of a police cover-up.

Minister George Hawkins admits the claims are serious but says they are only allegations at this stage.

He says the Police Complaints Authority will be looking into them.
