Judge and civil servant head inquiry
High court judge
and retired civil servant will head Commission of Inquiry into allegations of
sexual misconduct by police
A high court judge and a retired civil servant are to head the Commission of
Inquiry into allegations of sexual misconduct by police.
The inquiry is also looking at whether the initial complaints of sexual
misconduct made by a Rotorua woman were properly investigated.
The two commissioners, Justice Bruce Robertson and Dame Margaret Bazley, will be expected to report back to the government
by November.
The Inquiry will be able to investigate police conduct and procedure when
receiving and investigating allegations of sexual assault against the police.
It will also be able to inquire into police standards and codes in relation to
personal behaviour, including sexual conduct.
