Assistance possible

The Government is considering ways to give assistance to women who have complained of being raped by police when the allegations are investigated by the Commission of Inquiry. Prime Minister Helen Clark said yesterday there had been approaches about help. The commission of inquiry meets again this Thursday in Wellington. It was set up after Rotorua woman Louise Nicholas alleged she had been pack raped in the 1980s by a group of police officers, all of whom have denied the allegations. Other rape allegations have also since emerged.
