Police rape case
Letter to the Editor

I am annoyed by the constant reporting on the Louise Nicholas rape case.

Almost all the "news" is from her view point, condemning the policemen involved. You overlook the basic legal requirement that all men (people) are innocent until proven guilty.

What if these policemen are innocent?

Their reputation will be destroyed for life. This is a case where both could be right -- the men keen on intercourse believing that she consented, while she, not so keen, believed that she conveyed that she didn't want it.

As it happened 18 years ago, we should let it rest and give those required to do so a chance to sort through the muddle of evidence and belief.
