Louise Nicholas has
told the Rotorua District Court that Assistant Police Commissioner Clint
Rickards and his then colleague Brad Shipton would walk into her house and
intimidate her into sex whenever they felt like it. Rickards, Shipton and
another former Rotorua policeman Bob Schollum have been committed to stand
trial on 20 charges of raping and indecently assaulting Mrs Nicholas around
1984-1985, when she was 18. Mrs Nicholas says she
was extremely intimidated by Rickards' and Shipton's physical size. She says Rickards
appeared to be Shipton's back-up man. She says they seemed to know when she
would be off work and home by herself, and would arrive at her flat with the
sole purpose of having sex with her. Ms Nicholas says her
protestations made no difference and in the end she says she became
'pathetically polite', hoping they would feel sorry for her and stop. |
