Pre-trial hearings have
begun for an Assistant Police Commissioner and two former police officers
accused of pack raping Rotorua woman Louise Nicholas nearly two decades ago. Clinton Richards, Brad
Shipton and Bob Schollum face a total of 20 charges. Chief High Court Judge
Randerson has suppressed media reporting of all pre-trial proceedings . On application from
Crown and defence lawyers, he has also made an interim order for the media
not to recap the history of the case. Justice Randerson fears
it may prejudice the trial proper, set for March next year, and force a
mistrial. |
