The High Court in
Auckland has been hearing pre-trial applications in the Louise Nicholas pack
rape case. Police assistant commissioner
Clint Rickards and two former officers, Bob Schollum and Brad Shipton, deny
raping and sexually assaulting Nicholas in Rotorua in the mid-1980s. The accused were
committed for trial after a depositions hearing in Rotorua in July and the
case was moved to Auckland after another hearing last month. They will go to
trial in March and is expected to last three weeks. The High Court at
Auckland will hear four days of pre-trial applications. The details have been
suppressed. The court earlier ruled that hearing applications in open court
would prejudice the trial. |
