	The Southland Times October 26 2005 Pre-trial hearing starts Pre-trial applications relating to the prosecution of Rickards and former policemen Brad Shipton and Bob Schollum began in the court yesterday. Details surrounding the pre-trial applications have been suppressed. Orders prevent the publication of details about the case, which centres around historical sex allegations by Louise Nicholas against the former Rotorua officers. The hearing is expected to take a week. Rickards was head of the Invercargill CIB in 1993-94.
