A jury of seven women and five men
has been empanelled in the trial of a senior police officer and two former
officers on rape charges at the High Court in Auckland. Assistant Police Commissioner
Clint Rickards and two former policemen are accused of raping and indecently
assaulting Louise Nicholas twenty years ago. Dressed in his police uniform,
Rickards firmly and loudly pleaded not guilty to each charge as it was read. He, Brad Shipton and Bob Schollum
deny a total of 20 charges relating to incidents in Rotorua in 1985 and 1986. The Crown will call 44 witnesses
during the three week trial which has been moved from Rotorua to Auckland. |
