Commissioner Clint Rickards and former policemen Bob Schollum and Brad
Shipton are denying the indecent assault they are charged with ever took
place. The three men each face one charge
of kidnapping and one charge of indecent assault relating to an incident in
Rotorua in the 1980s. In a brief opening address lawyers for all three men
denied the sexual attack every happened. It is alleged the men forced the
complainant, who was 16 at the time, into a bedroom, then handcuffed her and
sexually assaulted her with a bottle. The men's lawyers all claim the
complainant is lying about the attack and Rickards' lawyer says his client
