The jury has been empanelled in
the trial of suspended Assistant Commissioner Clint Rickards and former
policemen Brad Shipton and Bob Schollum. They are accused of kidnapping and
indecent assault in a case dating back to the 1980s. Eight men and four women have been
selected to serve on the jury. Justice Judith Potter twice told them they
must distance themselves from last year's trial, where the same three men
were acquitted of raping Rotorua woman Louise Nicholas. The men each face one charge of
kidnapping and one charge of indecent assault using a bottle, sometime in
1983 or 1984 in Rotorua when the complainant was 16. |
