Another Trial For Police Trio Over 1980s Sex Charges

A senior policeman and two former officers acquitted of sexual offending in the 1980s will go on trial today, in relation to separate allegations.

Assistant Police Commissioner Clint Rickards, and former officers Brad Shipton and Bob Schollum are to appear at the High Court in Auckland.

Last year, a jury cleared them of charges of sexual violation and indecent assault against Rotorua woman, Louise Nicholas in 1986.

All three face charges in relation to another complainant in the 1980s. Extensive suppression orders apply to the charges.

A 12-member jury is expected to be empanelled today.

The trial is set down for two weeks.
