Jury hears police assaulted teen

A jury in the Auckland trial of a top police officer and two former officers has begun hearing evidence from the complainant in the case.

The alleged offending dates back more than two decades when the woman was a teenager.

Suspended Assistant Commissioner Clint Rickards along with former colleagues Brad Shipton and Bob Schollum deny the charges of kidnapping and indecent assault.

The complainant, now 39, gave graphic details in the Auckland High Court of what she alleges happened 23 years ago.

She said she had a five-month relationship with Shipton and quickly fell in love with him.

But she said even though he asked her out, they never seemed to go on any dates, but just drive round in his car, park up and have sex.

The woman said soon after that he suggested she meet some of his friends, with a suggestion she have sex with some of them. She had said she didn't want to do that. But she said despite this, Schollum started turning up on the car drives and started trying to join in on their sexual encounters.

The woman said she would refuse, get upset and Shipton would take her home.

She became upset describing an incident she claims took place at a house where she said she was indecently assaulted with a bottle when five men dragged her into a bedroom.

She described the three men involved as the accused.
