The wife of a former officer
fighting historic sex assault charges has hit out at police handling the case
under cross-examination at the High Court in Auckland. Brad Shipton, Bob Schollum and
Assistant Commissioner Clint Rickards are on trial over an alleged 1984
attack on a 16-year-old girl in Rotorua. Before proceedings wrapped for the
day, Sharon Shipton claimed she and her husband were on holiday in Wanganui
at the time of the attack. Prosecution lawyers asked her why
she had not earlier told police about the trip. She replied that she would never
assist the police team investigating the allegations, because she has read
about unethical conduct from that group. |
