	One News February 27 2007 Shipton's wife breaks down in stand Newstalk ZB Brad Shipton's wife has broken down on the witness stand, describing her husband's trial as something from a mad movie. Shipton stands accused with Bob Schollum and suspended assistant commissioner Clint Rickards of indecent assault and kidnapping in a case dating back to Rotorua in the mid-1980s. Sharon Shipton was recalled by the Crown on Tuesday morning. Crown Prosecutor Brent Stanaway accused Shipton of calling her cousin in Australia, asking her to lie about a holiday she and her husband went on in February 1984. Stanaway also accused her of asking her cousin to stay in Perth, away from her Brisbane home, so police could not track her down. At that point Shipton burst into tears, shrieking "as God strikes me down, I did not say such a thing". Brad Shipton also wiped away tears as his wife sobbed, and said she swore on her own daughter's life she was telling the truth. Sharon Shipton's cousin has been flown in from Australia and will testify for the Crown on Tuesday afternoon.
