Police investigating district court vandalism

Police are investigating an act of vandalism at Christchurch District Court.

A slogan concerning the case of suspended assistant police commissioner Clint Rickards and former officers Brand Shipton and Bob Schollum was written as graffitti on the court building, and red paint splashed was on it.

The three men were acquitted on Thursday of kidnapping and indecently assaulting a 16-year-old in Rotorua 20 years ago. It was then revealed that Shipton and Schollum are convicted rapists who are serving prison sentences.

Protesters gathered outside the courthouse on Friday morning said they had nothing to do with the graffiti, but supported the message it conveyed.
