Rickards' return to work depends on commissioner - Moodie

A former head of the Police Association, Rob Moodie, says suspended Assistant Police Commissioner Clint Rickards' return to work will depend on what proceedings, if any, the police commissioner is planning to take against him.

He says the police need to make their position clear in view of the enormous amount of public interest in the case.

Mr Rickards and former officers Brad Shipton and Bob Schollum were acquitted on Thursday of historical sex charges.

Dr Moodie told Checkpoint that if Mr Rickards does return to work, it will be difficult, especially after last year's Louise Nicholas trial which also exonerated the three men.

Dr Moodie says that if no further issues have arisen concerning Mr Rickards, then he will be entitled to return to work on Monday.

The police commissioner's office reiterates its statement that Mr Rickards will remain suspended until employment issues are worked through, which will take some time.
