Not Guilty Verdict |

The Police Minister Annette King
says she is appalled by a poster suggesting a career with Police is a way to
hear "great rape stories". The poster has been put up in
public - including the Wellington Railway Station. It follows the acquittal of the
suspended assistant police commissioner Clint Rickards and convicted rapists
Brad Shipton and Bob Schollum, on sex charges. Ms King says the poster is
"ugly and vicious" and whoever is behind it is ignoring the fact
the prosecutions against the three men were taken by police officers. She says although she understands
people are upset about the recent trials, the poster attacks ALL police. And the police have condemned the
posters. Superintendent Grant O'Fee says
they are unhelpful when police are really focussed on domestic violence and
rape. |
