Convicted molester to seek parole
NZPA

Convicted Christchurch child molester Peter Ellis is trying for an early release.

He is due before a parole board today to seek release from Paparua Prison, having served nearly half his 10-year sentence.

Ellis was found guilty of sexually abusing children at the Christchurch Civic Creche between 1986 and 1992.

In December, he filed a petition with Governor-General Sir Michael Hardie Boys for a pardon.

The petition was filed after a television report highlighted possible irregularities.

It was expected the petition would take up to three months to process.
