Sex inquiries
Letter to the Editor
by C Schischka, Kaitaia
Your headline "Sex predator
confesses to police" (September 19) must leave many wondering just what
is the criteria police follow when investigating possible paedophiles.
It is bad enough when police fail so many women murder victims if it is
easier to put it down to an asthma attack or drowning, but Peter Ellis and
his supporters must, like me, be wondering how the police deem the
"evidence" of six children is not enough for a prosecution only to
have the same man confess to a total of 22 victims five years later.
How can we have any faith in a
system that for one reason or another will believe one man's denial and not
another's?
