Convicted sex abuser Peter Ellis
would refuse to sign any parole documents if they implied he was rightfully
convicted, his lawyer, Judith Ablett-Kerr, QC, said yesterday. Ellis will be freed from prison on
February 2 next year, having served the mandatory two-thirds of his sentence.
He has maintained his innocence since being convicted in 1993 of numerous
charges of sex abuse against children in his care at the Christchurch Civic
Creche. The Parole Board has indicated
Ellis will be subject to special conditions upon his release. However, Mrs Ablett-Kerr said
Ellis had not and would not sign "any document that requires him to
consent to any conditions that presume him to have been rightfully
convicted". |
