Justice Minister Phil
Goff promised last night to give "early attention" to renewed calls
for a pardon and commission of inquiry for convicted child abuser Peter
Ellis, saying he would try to be fully briefed on the issues before
Christmas. He said he would make a
decision as soon as he was sensibly able to in the new year. Mr Goff said last night
that he was concerned about aspects of the case and that the issues were
"on my agenda". He hoped to be fully
briefed and to have all the relevant reports as well as the latest Court of
Appeal judgment before Christmas. He had written to
Ellis's mother, Lesley Ellis, about his concern with aspects of the
children's evidence against Ellis. |
